COMMON MAN'S UNDERSTANDING
What Taat said is true and we do not need Prachanda's statement or Girija's words to confirm this bitter truth. Having known fully well that he would not be able to defeat the Maoists, the late K Birendra was indirectly submitting to the Maoists or at least wanted to negotiate with them. Gyne was visibly shaken by any such rapport and started conspiring right from the beginning. Gyne realized that any negotiation by his brother with the Maoists would be detrimental to the heritage of more than 200 years old Shah dynasty, especially to his income earned through illegal means, he made a pact with certain sections of the Army [also may have been guided by certain foreign powers] and created bloodshed of an unimaginable kind.
Gyne should fail. He should be imprisoned and brought to trial for royal massacre and for the crime against Nepali people.
The problem is that the Maoists are also not reliable people and we can not expect much from the political parties either.
Girija might conspire: CA poll might not be held or, as the signal comes through Ian Martin and others, it may lose credibility [some violence and rigging are sure to happen]. Girija might then quit the government, and MILITARY might take over.
However, there can be some hope from the Left forces if they unite and work for the common weal. That too is something to be aspired but it might not happen.
The Nepali people need immediate attention to peace, security, health care, education and economic development. BUT who will work for them? Corruption is rampant everywhere and radical changes in thinking and action are needed.
