If you are travelling on a U.S. travel document, you are traveling as an American Citizen. You can not stay beyond the expiration date of your Indian Visa. However, you may apply for extension at Indian Immigration in Delhi. Check with them before you leave. hope it is helpful. best,

Then you are in problem. It seems like the 6 months stay regardless of visa validity is for those who have multiple entry visa valid for more than 6 months to several years. In that case, one can stay for maximum of 6 months in one trip. Your visa is valid for 1 month, so overstaying might be a problem.

You have no options here. You migh want to try to extend visa while you are there in India. You should have fair chances of extension. This is the perfect example of why everyone should have unexpired passport no matter you are us citizen or nepali citizen. If you have ties in Nepal get the passport, you never kbow when u have to travel.

You won't have any problem travelling to India if you travel with Nepali passport. GC is needed only to travel back to US. I wonder why would you travel via India if you have Nepali passport. Did you get your status thru Asylum? If so, you need to travel through India or third country and conceal that you visited Nepal. It is because the regulations say that USCIS may retreat or take back your immigration status if it proved that you visited your country.
