I am writing this article not for me to be viewed as a chauvinist but out of compassion for the struggle that the female gender is staring in the name of feminism. Lets begin with the functionality of gender in the society. God has created two genders with individual social responsibilities. They have their own chemical, biological and hence physical limitations on each other. A man is not given the physical ability to reproduce while he is capable of more strenuous work. The "equality of the genders" needs to be an understanding that comes through education and not through a social mob struggle.

By fighting for the so called rights, I pity the women who are doubling their efforts of existence. They cannot dispense their motherly instincts. At some point of time they need a man in their life. They need to think about a family as a conviction for a social living. Having said that about women, I also stress the need for a women in a man's life. The man needs her more than a woman needs him. The existence is mutual. No one is superior to the other.

I do not say that women should not go to school. Education is the only means that people can understand the idea of equality. The priority is what matters. For a women, and her smooth living , the social responsibility needs more attention than her corporate personality. A women in social responsibility fills the position of her partner's mother to pour affection, a sibling that can understand his anger vents and above all be a good partner too. When the adaptation needs quite a substantial amount of time, the smoothness of the operation is hindered by the choice of pursuing corporate goals. Is it not double work now for the women? Work for a company and work for the family...? The struggle seems to me like a means of escaping family responsibility more than struggle for equality.

I see the "career" women affecting the society in two ways. They will not be satisfied with equality. They ask for more. A female manager in the Fortune #7 looks for a partner in Fortune #1.As an effect, not only have they contributed to the increase in competition towards the survival of the fittest but have mounted more pressure on the the more responsible gender of the society. The other aspect is their neglect of the social responsibility that soon vents out as frustration. From the aspect of the males, they need to view it as a responsibility to house a family and not restrict the freedom of his dependents. Its difficult but I perceive it smoother than the struggle.

There is one understanding and everything else will fall in place.

Nature says a man's responsibility is to spread his seed as much as possible cause that's the only way to ensure the continuity and existence of a species. The debate I argue here is not about equality between males and females but rather the roles males and females fit in. If there can be Mahabharat over a woman, its not far fetched to say its the end of mankind if we try to go over million years of evolution :). Jus my CONCERNED THOUGHTS!

I am not up for any sort of battle of the genders. I, for one, have always believed in equitable society that marks rationality and affinity among all classes and genders.

There are two aspects, one should be aware of: wiishful setting and ground reality. Personally, I would love to see my wishes comes true, or anyone would for that matter, however, things fail to materialize the expectation in practice. And we are talking about the practical world!

Now who would not like women to work together with men? I would. However, there are certain things that should be understood.

1)Let me reiterate this, a family with a career woman has more probablity of going through crisis. As I mentioned earlier, woman has a MAJOR role in shaping up the family structure, the bond of love between couples and between children and parents. I don't deny that a father bears an equal responsibilty. But ask your 2 years old kid--Papa or Mama?--"Mama!" will be the response.

2) The family pressure that a woman has to undergo puts an additional pressure on her to perform at the corporate level, hence the inefficiency. Chances are, the success that she may be craving for on her career front will go in vain!

3) That results in a drift in family affairs which leads to divorce in the worst case.

4) Career or Family? Which one is important? That is a big question!

No offence to you young ladies. But there are things that have to be understood. If that evokes disargument, I am fine with it. I can envisage the aggression in your eyes, however this is the practical world. Welcome!

Yawnnn!! Last one for tonight. Career or family?? A question for women... and what about men? A 2 year old wants his mama because she spends more time with the baby.. if men were to stay at home and take care of the babies then I am sure that the baby would surely say papa. Its just how the society sees it. When I was a baby and people asked me... whose kid are you? I use to say I am my dad's kid!! What you say?

I think women with career should adopt children otherwise there will be more compatibility issues with the husband

Is there any man out here who is willing to help his wife with her household work??? And after after having child willing to take care of the child...like chage diapers, giving shower..etc. If both work(to support the house), then it will be important for both to share the household works too.

I will come back to this thread later on. Too busy right now. I wish some career/married women responded to this thread.

All these young sajha ladies tend to look upon the ground from 55th floor.

Don.Corleone,

You think you know, but you actually don't. If you have patience to listen, then you will know. If you don't, you'll never know!

Rythm,
You are out of track here, so you better keep your 2 cents with yourself. You may need it for your rainy days (god forbids).

sajhauser,
You sound like 16. No offence if you are not.

Girl Interrupted,

I am not against women rights. However after much research and thoughtful analysis, I have come to a point that right person should be at the right place. While there are quite a few career oriented women who had me in awe with their vision, shrewdness and workaholicness, there are plenty of others who work just for the namesake.

I worked in Nepal India and Srilanka. I have been working in US, Canada and Europe. My experience in itself is worth a research report. Most of the women don't make a good career person. The trend is more prominent in south asia which is understandable since our culture demands more from women in the social and family front.

Women in west look more sophisticated, intellectual and determined explicitly, but from inside they are no stronger than a lady from rolpa. I, personally, would prefer a nepali maoist woman to career oriented white lady for marriage. At least they are daring.

All in all, it boils down to the fact that with equality, women are coming forward, great! But at the same time they are putting more pressure on themselves for having to deliver which most of them fail to.

My advice to women, work but work in low profile and give more time to the family and society where most of them are good at.

I know this subject is offending but I have no hesitation in pointing at the truth.

Good Day!

Finally you reply.:D And may I ask you how I am out of track? Just answering some people's posting.

Truth is weird. What people believe in -- is the truth for them. I just see it as plain discrimination that you would advice women to work under low profile. As you have not been in the woman's shoe you would not know how she is keeping up with the "challenge of managing both her social and corporate responsibilities." And a man has just decided that the social responsibility lies in the woman's shoulders!! And keep my 2 cents to myself?? I would rather choose to bid it on something purposeful!

Don.Corleone,
I am not offended when you said I sound like a 16 yr old. But you must be offened when you read the remark that I gave to you. Now you might be again offended when I say that Rythm's capacity to understand situation is much more than you. But I won't stop :D..call me crazy..but I WONT!

LOL. Look at these young ladies. This is exactly what I am trying to say. Looks like some of them have already taken off their sandles to suprise me. But let me tell you, I am not gonna be affected. If you can, prove me wrong. I need action (counter arguments) not just some fake words to soothe your ego. Let me tell you, that time will tell you even more loudly and clearly than perhaps this thread have. When you all get married, have kids and have to cope up with the career, you will know what this thread was about.

I, personally, would love to see/meet a woman who could slap on my face for slapping on their cheeks (not literally, but with actions). This is what 21st century equal society is about. If you say a bad word about a black, he will call his gangsters. If you say, women are no good as career oriented person, they will NOT work hardt to prove it wrong, rather they will charge you with a felony/misdemeanor for being rude...LOL.

I can't keep myself from not laughing my ass off.

Laugh all you want.. isnt that why we have sajha.. so that we can freshen our moods??? About counter attacks... well I have a lot of cousins that are working moms. Their kids are adorable and happy with no threats of getting their homes shattered But as you want a working mom to slap you I am in no position to raise my hands! I dont have a kid right now so to prove something to you I should get you email and write a letter to you once I am a working mom. And get an appointment to slap your face. What you say?
