If anyone has more literature in this matter, please post. I know there were no pahadiya people (pahadi...Nepali speaking) before Juddha Sumsher's rule. How did they land in Tarai and took up the control from the Tarai people?

I do not have any literature to give you but here is my opinion.
When whole terai was engulfed with the epidemic of Malaria only Terai basi's had resistance to malaria. Pahades were scared of Terai back then. Once there was cure to malaria it started attracting pahede people. Pahade people started migrating to Terai. Most pahades migrated to Terai and made their own space ( farm land) by deforesting the land. The royals and the kings awarded the open Tarai terain to their loyal pahedes and they became the new jamindaars. Those land were not cosficated from Terai people...those were either open terrain or deforested land that belonged to the state of Nepal.
So it just makes me laugh...when i hear a madhesi say " how did pahede take control of Tarai", as if it was stolen from Tarai people and handed over to pahedes.
The real natives of Tarai are tharus, rajbansis, Mia musalmans, dhimal were very little back then. They did their own farming and no one consficated their land. Yes there were cases where Chattu/cunning brahmins and chetris tricked some naive illiterate tharus and rajbansis into selling their land.
As life in Tarai became more and more easier than the hill more and more people migrated to Tarai....( citizens are free to move from one place to another)
What amazes me about people like Nagarikreport is that, they seek equal oppurtunity and rights for an Indian who immigrated to Nepal some 15 years ago by calling them a Terai basi but when it comes to a pahede who migrated to Tarai three generations ago, the pahade is taking over the Tarai????

every nepali is free to move and settle in any place within nepal. So, this is not an issue of discussion. Very few population of madhesi people really belonged to Nepal from historical time. But, most of the people in terai immigrated from india in recent years (10-50 years ago). I am a Hill Chhetri from Terai and have seen flocks of Bangladeshis settling in terai. There are lot of madhises in the hilly part of nepal too.

You are right. Tharus were the aboriginal of terai as they were resistant to malaria because of Sickel cell anaemia in their blood. Even most of rajbansis are bengali or bangladeshi immigrants. Very few are real rajbansis in Jhapa and Morang. Because of similarity in physiognomy, nowadays bangladeshi immigrants call themselves a Rajbansi. Initial population of madhes was brought from adjoinig Bihar and UP as farmworkers by Jamindars (few madhesis and few pahades) in terai.

Nalapani,
Good to know the genetic explanation behind Malaria resistance in Tharu people? I thought the whole terai people were resistant to Malaria not just tharus.

Nalapani and Sid bro,
Although I like your response, I can assure you that you do not present any facts other than your opinion and you are dismissing legimiate facts based on your opinions as if only your opinions existed. So, you both do not qualify to shed a light in this matter.
Any other people/historians who can post some literature on this matter? Stay away from opinion please!
PS: Sid bro is dumb enough to assume everyone who questions a Pahadi is a Madhesi. Must be a new immigrant to US who is either attending a community college or working in a gas station.
PS: Nalapani, althought the implies of a chettri user, doesn't know anything about chettris. He knows only about fake chettris (the matwali, drunk idiots).

I am for Equal Opportunity for every single Nepali and I personally support confiscation of all Nepali citizenships granted in the past 20 years. Wait...how about those Nepali speaking Indians from Assam, Arunachal, Himachal who migrated to Nepal and got citizenship in the past 20 years?
Common example: Kamal Panthi, a Kantipur reporter and a native of Assam, India. Did you dare questioning him how he got his citizenship?

And this is my last comment on your bullcrap. You must be a bihari immigrant landed to nepal few year back.

Nagarikreport,
So who else would question a pahade? Another pahade?....lol
Yes i am a new immigrant to US, i migrated about 18 years ago and i still think i am a new immigrant. Unlike you i have nothing against people who attend community college or a gas station job holder.
You keep on looking for facts on " pahade taking over tarai" you will not find any. Looking at your responses, it is pretty transparent why India does not want to recruit your kind to their Army. Your kind thinks they could be taken over that easy. May be India does not what anyone who thinks that inferior about themselves in their army. What a irony for you and your kind !!!

All freaking Nepali leaders grew up in Benaras, UP wearing Dhoti Kurta everyday.
and the list goes on and on....
After an extensive research, you will find India is pretty much UP, Bihar, Bengal and Punjab. These states brought indepenence in India. Most freedom fighters were from these states. And now, here you are trying to discredit history without your "opinion"? What's your qualification? Community College?
Which dumb said Indian Army doesn't prefer Benagli? Do you know the history of Indian Army? Indian Army was formed by Netaji Subash Chandra Bose (a Bengali freedom fighter) in Germany with the help of Hitlar.

Those ramayana and mahabharat days are gone man...after Krishna...yadavs were taken over by the rajpoots and were declared " Achoots/Dalits) since then the states like Bihar and UP has no significance in Indian economy and politics. Its the people from Delhi and Bombay, and Gujraat who run India now.
Again, when are you Nepali of Bihari decent are going to ask India to recruiting people from Nepali Tarai?????? When are you going to seek explanation from them??? When are you going to find out whether India thinks your kinds are cowards or not???

This is why I would not want to join Army, although I respect them the most...with appointments like these, I can recruit you for dirt cheap salary and let you face the enemy.
