In my opinion, 'thar' is familyname or lastname and 'jaat' means class or cast (a kind of hierarchy).

We do not know in what contest he is asking these word. तर ( if he means it ) = but , तार = wire झट, झटट ( if he means this ) = immediately. झाट = pubic hair

Bill,
Jaat means caste. Thar means sub-caste.
There are many Jaats in Nepal. Each of those Jaats has many Thars. People use either Jaat or Thar as their last names.
Jaat does NOT mean class as someone above mentioned.
