Hi Sahayog: I am sorry to hear that you have abdominal pain that get worse when you cough. However, there are several causes of abdominal pain and it is in your best interest to see a doctor as soon as possible particularly if the pain is severe, associated with fever, nausea or vomiting and get worse when you cough or move. There is a small blind tube attached to the intestine which is called appendix when it get inflammed/ swollen it is called appendicitis and may cause abdominal pain and may be associated with fever, nausea and vomiting. The definite treatment is appendisectomy (surgical removal of appendix) and is one of the common operation. The doctor will decide when to do such operation. The appendix does not have any important function in our body and its removal does not have any negative impact on our body function. So do not get scared its a simple operation and you will be perfectly alright after the operation but see the doctor as soon as possible.

I dropped out of medicine in 1980, however, be sure how u describe your pain. If your pian is towards your right bottom part of abdominal region.. it is not neccessarily appendicitis,....be honest about the pain+ do you drink very often..on empty stomach can cause symptoms like u mentioned. What is your age? here exaclty do you have the pain, like left right or centerr of abdoman???? I'm not doctor, so please do not at all believe what I write here. IS IT CLEAR, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHO U R? SO PLS BE HONEST IN DESCRIBING YOUR CURRENT CONDITION. remember: THIS IS SAJHA. Please CONSULT THE NEAREST AVAILABLE DOCTOR,... my ADIVCE IS NOT TO BE TAKEN AT IT'S VALUE AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sahayog, abdominal pain doesn't necessary mean you have an appendicitis.it could be any different disorders like gastritis, pancreatitis etc ..however if you pain is on the lower right abdomen, then appendicitis could be possible although there are other disorders which causes right lower abdomen pain. The pain of appendicitis usually starts around your umbilical area after which it localizes on your right lower abdomen. There is usually associated loss of appetite and fever. Nausea, or vomiting may or may not occur.there are different signs to diagnose appendicitis.. press on your left lower abdomen and if there is more pain on your right side, it could be appendicitis.also, press on the right lower abdomen and release, if you feel pain after you release, it could be appendicits..there are other signs too..coughing can also aggrevate the pain but my advice to you is to see the doctor immediately...he will take your physical and do some blood test and diagnose accordingly...but you should see the doctor immediately cause if it is indeed appendicitis and it ruptures then you will have bigger problems.....cheers

Hi Sahayog: As we said earlier abdominal pain can be caused by several things from very simple consitpation to life threatening conditions. Of course most often it is a very simple cause and you will be better ina few hrs. However, there is no definite way anybody can tell you without putting their hands on your belly and examining you and persistent severe pain warrant immediate doctor's attention no matter where the pain is. Well, health care in US is expensive but I am assuming that that you have some kind of insurance and that may cover bulk of your expenses. Even if you do not have insurance I would urge you to see doctor unless your pain is gone already. There may be certain hospitals where services amy be provided free of charge and in case of Emergency all hospitals are required to treat you irrespective of your insurance status. Your health and life are more important than anything and you will find ways to pay your bills even if you do not get free services. I wish you a good luck and speedy recovery and most likely its a simple problem that may settled by itself but seeing a doctor will give you peace of mind.

sahayog jee, go see the docotor asap. there is no rx in sajha. at least try one thing. lay down on the floor. straighten your legs first. lift your right leg up and spin on both side. it probably hurts you on the right lower abdominal quadrant. appendicitis when infiltrates the abodminal cavity, you won't feel any pain but that is life threatening. make sure to see your doctor. jayamatadi

"Appendicitis"..dude, if you get it..you are in big trouble....you can die in minutes. it is 200 times more deadly than Rattle snake venom and it is 70 times as deadly as AIDS virus. exteremely few lucky ppl survive the effects Rattle snake venom but unfortunately there is no cure for " Appendicitis".

hi sahayog sorry to hear that u r suffering from physical disorders but appendicitis isnt a very big problem in this modern era if diagonised at the rite time.khaobadi plz don scare anyone like this without proper knowledge coz everyone is sensible about their lives..u could be right if the appendicitis bursts out or if it could not be detected even in the last stage.specially critical stage begins after 3rd or 4th day.this situation could be critical but in general cases a small operation can solve the problem(appendoctomy).prabing great explanation of appendicitis and how to diagonise it. i will try to explain to a bit more in detail so that those who do not have much idea about anatomy can also understand and detect whether it is appendicitis or not. * what is appendicitis?? - end word "itis" represtents an infection and wherever there is pain in body or any infection of any part the latin name of such organs is often followed by itis, e.g gastritis, hepatitis, pancreatitis and so on.that means appendicitis is the infection of appendix(a vestigeal organ of human body which is still very useful in animals like cows who need to digest cellulose). *where is appendix in our body?? -let's begin our food pipe from mouth.u come across oesophagus, stomach, small intenstine(duodenu, jejunuum and ileum) and crossing point between small intestine and large intestine, and then large intestine.when small intestine goes into large one, it ends blindly.at this point a small extended strcture is appendix which ends blindly.it is not necessary that appendix always hangs but could lie in several different positions. *is appendix important for us?? -yes it is important but not that important that without appendix people can not survive.it just helps in immune system to some extent but generally does not show much affect in the body as its contribution is very less. *how to detect appendicits? To detect it is necessary to know two points in body. a)Mc-Burney point- normally it detects the position of origination of appendix,i.e.where it begins.this point lies in between navel and spina iliaca anterior superior that means: नाइटो र कम्मरमा उठेको हड्डिको चुच्चोलाई एउटा रेखाले जोडाउँ ।यो रेखाको लगभग बिचमा यो बिन्दु (पोइन्ट) पर्छ . b)Lanz point- it detects the tip of the appendix and lies in in between two spinae iliacae anteriores superiores.that means-कम्मरको दुवैतिर उठेको हड्डिको चुच्चोलाई एउटा रेखाले जोडौँ। Diagnosis: a)palpation: press slowly the right lower abdomen with two fingers and suddenly remove the fingers.in case of appendicitis , u feel more pain at the Mc-Burney's point. b)temperature:normally rectal temperature is more than axillar temperature by 1 degree. c)leucocytes:(possible only in lab): number of leucocytes are increased. Therapy:operation
