Govt move to bring back former IGP Kharel
Kathmandu , 22 May: The present government, consisting of parties committed to correcting past mistakes, has started mobilizing the police administration along party and family lines, Rajdhani reports.

Democratic security personnel are disenchanted.

Government is preparing to induct controversial former IGP Achut Krishna Kharel by creating a new position in the police administration.

Kharel, considered close to the NC, is being inducted as police director general. Previous attempts to create the position didn't succeed.

Police inspectors close to the NC were transferred in moves one week ago.

People’s News/BR

IF YOU ALL REMEMBER THIS KHAREL HAS CORRUPTION CHARGES FILED BY CIAA AND WAS KEPT IN PRISON UNTIL BAILED ON 2-3 CRORES.

Feri kaha kaha ko samachar lera aucha yini haru. Where is the source?

Kharel is girija ko "ankha ko tara." That is why he became the IG even after being retired. SC did not do it, it was Girija all the way baby ;).

But, where is the source of this news? Is it like Bam dev making this retired sub-inspector or something like that, a DIG, no less, with all the backpack (huh?) and shit. That was like after a almost 2 decades or somethign hoina? LOL.

Is that Binod kharel the ex-goalkeeper of national team and MPC?

Hallai halla ho bhane halla ho bhannu paryo, nabhaye source bhannu paryo.

IndisGuise,

Source is written there. It is www.peoplesreview.com.np
It is started by MR Josse, P R Pradhan and Bhola B Rana (senior names in journalism). They are nationalists whose news you can trust unlike Kunda Dixit who is funded by RAW and unlike "vrantipur" which has no credibility and is working to much in India's favour.

What the f**K if they do this... people should kill all congresis leaders and girija and Kharel.

this bastard was not only corrupt .. he was also responsible for kiloshera2 operation where cops went on full fledge suppression against poor innocent villagers in the name of maoist.

the operation was also a reason for maoist getting stronger and rise in maoist army...

I am pretty sure Girija will end up legalizing corruption then will go into palace and sell the democracy back...

I told b4 hand itself congressis are not to be trusted bastrad mofos they do not have democracy in their party itselft how will they bring democracy in country

Joshi ji -
The people you cited "MR Josse, P R Pradhan and Bhola B Rana (senior names in journalism)" are NOT nationalists but are Mandales. The typical Mandale mindset is that they don't care about the country, just their raja. As long as their raja is stinking fat, they don't give a sh*t if the country is starving. And Nepal was starving while Gyane and Paras "Uday Hussein" Shah were on their on global sojourns. And what did MR Josse say about those trips? Well I don't want to bore you with his rants, just check his articles in The Rising Nepal. Also read the White Paper published by the finance minister and see the scope of the gross misuse of the national treasury between Feb 2005 and April 2006.

I don't consider "MR Josse, P R Pradhan and Bhola B Rana (senior names in journalism)" journalists. The more appropriate term for them is propagandists like Goebbel in the Nazi Germany. Read their totally biased writing during the short-lived Gyane. You can have qualms about Dixits et. al. but they are independent and not sycophants like the Mandale journalists.

I am not advocating that "MR Josse, P R Pradhan and Bhola B Rana" be banished. They should be around to watch over Girija, Makune and Deuba, but especially Deuba and Girija. I don't trust Girija but fortunately he is not a permanent fixer like Gyane. If Nepalese people are tired of Girija and his corrupt henchmen in Congress, they will be thrown out of power in the next election (I really hope they do). And Deuba, he is the American stooge. Lets see how far he can go.

dear readers,
it seems like most people who give feedbacks on this site are either unaware or have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. instead of making any irrational judgement, please be ready to back up your statements with some facts. IGP Achut krishna Kharel is a very well known name in the kingdom of nepal. look at some of the works he has done in the past. he was one of the only police chief who actually stopped corruption. if anyone is from pokhara ask them, during his tenure most of the so called money launders actually had to abandon pokhara. a very strict police chief who was ready fo any thing. he started his career as a national football player for mavabir sporting based out of dillibazaar in the sixties. he was the captian for nepal national football team, he was not retired when was become IGP for the second time. it was Bam dev gautam who sacked him and he did against what was written in the constitution. he later filed a petition and won the case and was re-elected. though he might be close with congress but look at his work accomplisement. after the paras motorbike incident, he was in bad terms with the royal family and than they started an investigation on him. he almost had to leave nepal after that incident. he was the number one target in the so called maoist movement for many years. i do not wanna share everything about this man, anyone interested can find it out on nepal police website. i think he would be a great candidate.

Ross, ok i give u what u said.
so why not start creating new positions in police and army and civil services to polticize these sector right? For all those who are close to SPA get second chances even after they are retired ???Creating unwanted new positions an tighten our already tight budgets. If u just defending Kharel character then thats fine if u are defending what SPA is doing then i do not agree with you.then again what is the need to getting him back .

Look what SPA did , they told that civil servants can become governments servants after coming in to power?wasn't it enough that lower post kamachari already doing politics. Now they want them to openly declare them selves congrees communist.I am fine in that cases to if they are political appointments.Lets make every officers in Nepal a politcial appointments openly change the name of civil servants to govt servants..
I just cannot
understand what SPA wants they are giving surprises one after another without evaluating consequences .Do they have vision????

Hey ross,

It was in Deuba regeime when I was right there in Nepal that 3 former IGPs - Moti Bohra, Achyut Kharel and Pradeep Shamsher Rana were kept in khorr for curruption charges by CIAA and were only released after they spent several days in prison on bail. The bail amount for each of them were some 2 or 3 crores. If your search in Nepalnews, the news must be there. I think it was some 2-3 years ago.

The Kharel story was originally in Rajdhani weekly as the Peoples Review states quite clearly. Gaule Guru you really know what and who constitutes a patriot or a nationalist.
Dixits take their diktats from Delhi which Amrit rightly pointed out.

I think Gaule would like to see Prachanda at the throne in Narayanhity....with SPA kowtowing to the Maoists that, too, may not be a very far-fetched scenario!

amrit ji,
what do you expect. i bet you might know someone or might be your relative too, who might have been charged for corruption. in nepal at those days everyone in power had to go through some kinda corruption charge. the CIAA commitee was handled by king gyanendra, so lets not even go there. the average salary is really hard to sustaine a good lifestyle in nepal. you might be suprised but the monthly salary for the chief of police is rs.28000. i am not talking about corruption here, i am talking about if the candidate has done his job or not and mr.kharel has done a lot.

Another thing - Bhola B Rana is a well known senior journalist. He was a rep of Reuters News too. Nobody ever doubts about MR Josse too, not even you Chorr Dixit bro, Mr Gaule !

Respect them for the fact that there are not out there to make money taking money from India but to protect the nationalism like your Dixit chorr bajey.

Dr. Strangelove ji -
My readings of Dixits is that they are not for an active/sakria monarchy. Who is for such a system anyway besides the Mandales? Just because they are not pro-absolute monarchy does not make them pro-India. Many people dislike the Dixit family and they are controversial in some quarters but that's not because they are pro-India but rather because they have the survival instinct, perhaps a Bahun-character, honed by decades of flowing with the political winds of Nepal. The Dixit family are astute enough to know that the days of absolute monarchy is gone and perhaps you can argue that its the reason for their siding with the political parties, remember they were monarchists once, but that's not the same thing as being pro-India.

The Mandale tend to argue that if you are against the king, you are pro-India. But that's a hypocrisy. Probably more than any family in Nepal, even more that Sadhvawana cadres, the Nepal king and his aristocratic henchmen have closer blood relations to India. If Paras "Uday Hussein" Shah becomes the king (god forbid), we'll have an Indian/Rajasthani queen. The Ranas, Shahs and Thapas that populate the army's top brass and the RPP have sasuras-and-samdhi's that are Indians - the latest being Prajawal Thapa but the list goes on. Karan Singh, an Indian buddy of Gyane and an Indian relative of Pashupati SJBR should be credited for saving Gyane's a** from Nepali people's wrath.

The Maoists are a significant (but not the dominant) political force in Nepal and they have raised many legitimate issues erstwhile ignored by the ruling political class. That does not mean I condone their violence or their extortion. The bottom-line is that the Maoists are there and we've to deal with them. The most important issue for Nepal is to bring the Maoists to the mainstream and whoever can do that will have my and Nepali history's kudos. If peace prevails and political dialog revolve around normal issues like corruption-nepotism-governance and sometimes leftist-vs-rightist economic policies, then Nepal will have a tremendous future. I'll be very bullish on Nepal. Remember Afghanistan's economy in the post-Taliban period has registered 10+ growth rate (one of the fastest in Asia). Nepal's stock market already reflects that optimism - it's up more than 15% since mid-April. Personally I don't think the Maoists will be able to impose Khmer Rouge or North Korea like rule in Nepal. If Nepalese people can prevent a centuries old monarchy built on personality cult with personal army from imposing his will, they can certainly prevent lilliputs like Prachanda from doing the same.

Joshi ji -
I didn't know Mr Rana was associted with Retuers. Now that explains why the Retuers stories during the aldolan period were very misleading. They tended to parrot the home ministry line "that Maoists have infiltrated the demonstration and they were instigating violence" etc. Even BBC Nepali service was anti-SPA until the events on the ground made them look ridiculous. I think Rabindra Misra, the new BBC Nepali service head is institively pro-monarchy. I don't have a problem with that as long as it does not show in his programs but unfortunately it does sometimes.

Isn't that the same F*C#er who went after all dingo boots and long hair. That metality always amused me. What an idiot.....even though i give him the credit of bring an strict officer and had some thugs on running; But highly doubt his innocence regarding corruption.
