Acharya, Thapa pawns of Palace: Koirala

KATHMANDU, Aug 16 - Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala, for the first time, has accused party member Narhari Acharya and Gagan Thapa, former general secretary of the Nepal Students? Union (NSU), of being Royalists.
?Both Acharya and Thapa are the pawns of the royal palace? district-level NC activists quoted Koirala as saying in Biratnagar Tuesday.

Koirala also said the palace was using Acharya and Thapa as a weapon to disband the party.

Koirala had reached his hometown after inaugurating the 10th general convention of the NSU in Pokhara on Monday.

?The picture is clear,? he told party cadres, adding, ?The palace detains and releases whenever it wants.?

Reports said Koirala earlier asked if there were any media person before commenting on Acharya and Thapa.

Meanwhile, the NC cadres in Morang have expressed dissatisfaction over Koirala?s remarks.

The party activists blamed Koirala of marginalizing promising leaders who did not come from his family background.

An outspoken leader and an staunch aide of Koirala, Acharya, who was released from five-month custody after the Feb.1 royal takeover, has been calling for statutory changes in the party to move forward as an absolute democratic political force. He has also been advocating the party to opt for the constituent assembly.

Meanwhile, reacting to Koirala?s allegations, Thapa told Kantipur Online that it was not a new thing within the party?s history.

?It?s a conspiracy to undermine the growing power of some leaders with different opinions within the party,? said Thapa.

?Republic is not our demand?

Koirala also said that his party is against the republican set up in the country.

?We are not demanding for republic,? Koirala said. ?It is just a bargaining point to warn the King.?

He said that the monarchy should not be discarded from the country, adding, ?We just cautioned the King to bring him inside the law.? (dds/snn)

He is responsible for 85% of the total mess in the country.... As an inaugurator he is 100% responsible for downgrading democratic norms.

If King is wise, no matter what he has to act bold. Bold in the sense, he has to have strong stance with vision to built crashed geo-political and socio-economical structures..He should be able to rise his middle fingures to self-claimed democratic fighters. But Thats not going to be happen anyway.. He is as shrewd as our Neta. Now I am waiting to see historic coalition between King and Democratic Gangster to loot Nepali Janta again.

Isn't it irony when country are in verge of crisis, these leaders are still fighting with each other.. What futher we would expect?

Now its time for Nepali Janta to Lead themselves.. Come up with discrete agenda.. Forward agenda to someone we can trust at least. Let him lead us not rule upon us..

Unless we dont find that leader, at this moment it is not wise to chant about Republican State along with looters. We know our Netas, don't we? Today whatever happen in Pokhara will be happening in nooks and corner of the coutry.. Sooner or later that will ignite Civil War. A disgusting war for power..

Its time for Nepali to unite and look for best option that works best. We need peace and prosperity, doesn't matter if it would be possible when Nepal is republican state, under autocratic rule or under communist rule.

At this time, if King sincerely come up with a good attitude nothing would be better then this...

Girija is against kg's absolute monarchy but he wants to start koirala dynasty in NC. He wants to plant his daughter as his heir. And his daughter is the one among those who are most responsible for democracy's this day.

Even if they disagreed with Gagan's proposal, why was he not allowed to submit it for discussion? Why are NC and its sister organizations afraid of internal democracy of organization? If they have "proof" of Gagan being royal pawn ( I don't believe, let me clear my personal view), why are they afraid of countering it in floor, discussing and defeating him by democratic means?

NC establishment is afraid of new ideas and new leaders. NC is living on interest of its 2007 success, but that interest is already finished. Country needs new democratic party now.
