GNN. Singapore September 2, 2009.
Indian authorities have begun extradition process of Paras Shah from Singapore. India and Singapore had signed extradition treaty between the two countries during the premiership of Mrs. Indira Gandhi in the late 80's.
Paras Shah has been charged with the distribution of fake Indian currency. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 420 years in prison if convicted.
Legal observers have ridiculed the Indian authorities' move. With statements from two individuals arrested red handed with the fake currency, they do not have any evidence of Paras Shah's involvement. Some conspiracy analysts have pointed out that India is bringing out ex-prince's name in public to defame the royal name in advance of any political moves planned by the ex royal family. Paras is said to have expressed his interest in joining Nepali politics in future.
Currently Paras Shah is under house arrest. The whereabouts of his model wife Himani is not known at this time. The last time she was seen at a disco with Paras, where the couple seemed normal.
