Hi,

I was wondering if a TV bought in the US can be used in Nepal with little or no hassle?

I found a vizio that works at 220-240V, but for many other TVs, I may need a voltage-converter from (110-120 V)  to (220-240 V).

I was doing more research and found that US TV are built for NTSC signals where as many of Asian countries use PAL. I couldn't figure out what is used in Nepal.

Is there any out there who have bought TV in the US and took it to Nepal. If so, please share the experience and/or suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your time and effort.

Good idea, but you may have to pay extra charges if the size and weight are higher than the specific Airlines allows in that case, you need to do your math work, I mean cost benefit analysis.

Cost of the Vizio + additional airfare (cargo)+ converter (if needed)+ Voltage Stabilizer + any custom fee (applicable)= is worth it or not???? Your decision is final.

In past people used to bring TV , Now it is sleek, sexy and flat, why not????????

You have to pay 200% custom tax on it

cost of tv:    $1000

tax:              $2000

shipping:      $200

total cost:     $3200  (not worth it)

I believe I was asking information on technical issues not whether it is worth it or not.

Anyways thanks to people who invested at least some time to answer the thread.

I would really like to know the technical sides.

Don't take it - Nepal uses PAL system while most of the TVs here only support NTSC...you can still view local channels, but will have to buy a external converter...the quality may not be good.
