Well the war between MS and Apple will never end... in the mean time, I was wondering what Sajha users think and prefer... Microsoft or Apple and... why? Which company do you guys think is more innovative?

"Apple computers get very little virus related problems" We hear this argument a lot which is inherently a flawed argument.

Agree Khaobaadi: If Apple or MAC OSX had a market like WIndows has now, we would the same thing in reverse...hackers would target Mac........Ain't that a human thing...ego may be to target the bigger fish in the pond??? As the Bigger fish is to used to gobbling up the tiny ones?? No rocket science here !!

Actually thats exactly how I feel. Mac has a very small user base so anyone hardly attacks Macs. I have actually heard only a few cases of Mac attacks. But this is not only the point of the argument as there have been some more arguments floating around. Mac claims that they have been more innovative in the recent years [yes iPod was someone new] and they come out with two OS's while their friends at Richmond have been doing nothing but copying them and has released just one OS in five years since XP. Does't MS XP Media Center Edition count as a OS? How about Windows Mobile? I don't see much difference between Apple's Tiger and their new OS, Leopard. Any comments?

I'm a die hard Apple fan. It doesn't mean I'm against Windows, but I prefer apple if i have a choice. And about viruses I think Knight hit the nail! Saying "apple" doesnt get many viruses is not a good defense. If you are more popular, it's anything but natural to be targeted more than the other, which is the case with Micro and Apple.

oh hi real... apple can windows too! that would be another advantage.. ALso Apple works a lot of the exterior of the laptop.. The new Macbooks get scratched :-(.. I hate that! They look sooooo good in the store and when you bring them home they actually get sctraches. I think iBook were much better in this matter, but apart from that Apple's the way to go.

Tiger brought in new thing like spotlight. Time machine is the innovation in Leopard. I may not use this feature but most of the users would like to have it. It's not just the pride that comes with the brand, there are many more reasons to stick with MAC. Best thing about Mac is the user interface. MAC pioneered GUI, MS followed. Now Vista is vying for "WOW" factor which is obviously a MAC mimic. iLife, iwork and everything integrate so well that you don't have to worry about the technicalities of file formats in different applications. Stability is another plus point; might be the better quality software development tool. MAC is MORE secure than Windows. Yes, Microsoft is targeted by hackers because it has wider presence but don't forget the fact that there are multiple inherent flaws in Windows which makes it easier for us to break than MAC OS X. Free BSD is the core. I have a belief that open source software is more secure than their counterpart, because there are more unpaid, self motivated, enthusiastic minds working to make it safe. Passion yields better.

Talking about Windows.... I read somewhere that more than 30% of developers/programmers at Microsoft are either Indians or of Foreign decents.....Wonder if that has anything to do with being complacent in the design process, and making the back door open for viruses and the likes in the Windows OS....what do you guys say? Even though I defended Mocrosoft in my above post, in no way was I asserting that Apple's OS is not secure......In fact, Steve Jobs (CEO - APPLE) was the one of the brightest when he was with Xerox.....too bad Xerox didn't see his potential, and dwelled with Copy business..... On iPOD, and iPhone, I think its publicity of being "COOL" than anything else...otherwise, iPhone look alikes are already in the market...its just that the consumers are so enchanted by anything APPLE....the WOW factors is more of a reflex action these days......Just my opinion.....Feel free to chime in !

It is just a never ending argument, and it is never going to end. The only way you really can deciede which is good, if you ues the product. Use it for a year then go back to other one and try it for some time. Thats what i did 4 years ago, I am glad i did. Since then PC been dead in Dictionary.

. I agree that M$ is widely used and thus is more prone for being the target, as people are more wanting to crack/hack a thing which says itself secure, and which has some 50 million lines of code, BUT, has limited minds working on it. With limited, i mean, M$ programmers cant compete alone with other brains around the world who work together daily in optimizing for a better kernel daily! Never! More the brains , better the product!
