I think his grandfather used to work in the palace and some maharani gave a lot of property to him. That is the story i have heard. But they have build on the property ever since. I do not believe everything they have today is the ancestral wealth. They are few of those people in Nepal who have both the brain and the riches. Then we will have to ask everyone else who worked in palace especially the pujaris to return their property as well, they are filthy rich as well.

It's a known fact that Dixits, like many other beneficiaries, got heaps of accounted dough from Nepal's coffer. Some have gone on the build on that wealth, while others have literally blown it away. And there are few, who have just about maintained what they "received." Dixits, perhaps, have went on to build on whatever "significant" properties; movable or otherwise. There is no doubt that the palace’s expenses and properties need to be inspected and curbed to great extent. However, coming from Dixit, who themselves have been one of the larger beneficiaries, it just sounds like, Mr. goody-two-shoes. Agreed that they have built on what they have, and they have successful "business," but like any person with half a brain can understand - money DOES attract money. If you have a million bucks, it's relatively easier to make another. So the theory that they "built" on it, holds no water, if any. It can, if they are willing to pay cash value of "then" wealth in today's currency. I bet Mr. holier-than-thou have not given it a second thought. We can not track all the people who received such "fokat ko maal," but if we can draw the line - say-like, any person who received above so and so amount, "daan ma" has to return so and so much to national coffer, I wonder how many of the bourgeois "media" democrats would propagate "suuna ma ramailo guff." I say, let's do it simultaneously, benefactor and beneficiaries. Nepal is ready to open Pandoras Box, is Mr. Dixit and the likes listening? IndisGuise:)

:..got heaps of UNaccounted dough from Nepal's coffer." ".... Some have gone on TO build on that wealth,..." Ignore other typos. :O -------------------------------------------------------------- Oh boy, imagine the wealth, Nepal as a nation would have if we could trace back on those unaccounted wealth. Perhaps, someone should propose, Mr. Dixit to lead the way and give back those lands, jewelleries, cashs and god knows what, that can dwarfs many other beneficiaries. I am sure if he starts it, it's gonna catch like wild fire and people are going to DEMAND it from the government to gauge deeper. You can do it Mr. Dixit. GO BANKRUPT ;) LOL. Just in the mood for some bantering. IndisGuise:) P.S:And how about Pashupati ko purohits and all. What about that medical expenses that Helen or someone royal related got? Neta seta ko. Darn!

Kanak's grand pop was "munimji" to Madan Shumshere who was married to Maharani Jagadamba. Jagadamba had brought with her a whole lot of jewelry as dowry as she was a daughter of the Maharaja of Benares. Since Maharani Jagadamba did not have any issue, the Dixits usurped the property at Patan Dhoka and all the valuables. Rato Bangala is part of that legacy.

As far as Dixit's article is concern it is a good thinking. About his wealth, he some how got it from Rana Family who cares how and why? Bottom line is they did not loot it from poor Nepalese family. If they got it from Jagdamba, they have also invested it in keeping up the name of Jagdamba. They have various trust and business organization under her name, keeping her name alive. Also all their wealths are not ancestral they build on it. Ranas giving property to their Brahmins purhet or munims was nothing unusual at that time. Some family kept it, some returned it back it is individual decision.

I dont want to get into others public life , tara things are easier said than done. If you can, try to find about what NATAK these dixit's did when sher bhadur deuba declared limitation of property ownership in kathmandu. I respect dixit's for their intelluctuality, and contribution to this country But i am hesitant to recognizing them as role models , based on thier history.
