Dear Sajha fellas

i plan to invite my parents over my convocation ceremony at the university. Apart from necessary documents that has to be prepared in Nepal, what other documents shall i and i can mail to them in Nepal?? before they stand for their interview at the consular office.

I am financed by my parents, so there is no question of me sending them my income disclosures, however i do have the documents they've mailed me before while sending me funds. Those who has been through this process, i humbly request you to forward me your suggestion.
thanks eklo in america

get your international student office to write an invitation letter on behalf of the university. they probably have a standard template. you can embellish it with euphemisms describing your educational experiences and achievements if they let you.

Or you can write a simple invitation letter which includes their intended length of stay and send it along with the graduation invitation card from school.

i think a letter from the university carries a higher level of influence. i would strongly recommend a ltter from teh uni. however, if you do end up writing the letter on your own, make sure you give it to someone who can edit it well.

My suggestion is.....do not write any letter yourself. Have your international office write an invitation letter. You can mail your school Transcript as well if you want. And thats all you need.

I have already been through this quite a while ago I highly recommend you get the invitation letter from your school. Its more effective and not a big deal to get either. Your International Advisor should be able to give you the standard format they usually have in the Uni letterhead.
Good Luck!

I strongly recommend a letter from the internatiional counsellor, a letter from you.

they might want to know how you will be supporting your parents as you are a student.

Get a letter from the school (if you can ask them to mention good things about you in the letter like good grades, Dean's list etc). You might also want to think about a personal letter to the Consular Officer. One such letter I know of talked about the student's time in the American college, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to come to America as a student, and explained how important and involved the person's parents were in his education and how much this graduation really meant to the family. It worked I think.

You may be able to find some helpful stuff at : - http://www.immihelp.com/ and - http://www.immigration.portal.com

Good luck!
