We are Nepali bau aama-ka Products. Muji is Japanese Products was doing internet search for howwork...saw this MUJI thing. Read garam na tatalko..haraf...ramaelo hudo raichha....!!! was also wondering will if this company has to sell its products in NEPAL. What would be its MARKETING STRATEGY there? Hello Handsomes, there is no comparison between between us and the Japanese products. I was trying make a point for class presentation how could CULTURAL DIVERSITY could play a role in global economy. In this case we take Muji in a different perspective back home. But, the same word has jus opposite meaning in other cultures. And inthis thread I was asking you people what would be the consequences of those products if that company expands it market in Nepal? But the answers have not posted yet. Lets see if some one provides better solutions for this problem. thanks boys anyway. -BD

bhangli_damini sanga chai bihe ko barema sallaha lina parla. tara dui tin barsa pachi bihe garchu, ani... je hos, timilai yesto kura haru kasari aucha? timro band baja baji-sakyo ki kasso? anyways, i thought the muji thing was pretty funny. however, i am wondering how you are going to get away with having to define muji (the nepalese version) in class while keeping a straight face. sounds like a tough proposition to me... lemme give you another example of cross-cultural differences that, in the absence of local knowledge can prove disastrous. consider the nepali (or south asian culture generally) sign that's used to ask someone if they want to eat. you know, when you have your thumb touching all your other fingers pointed upwards. well, it turns out that that same sign is used by the italians to say fuk you. so imagine some italian dude who goes to an indian restaurant, and the owner gestures to him saying "do you wanna eat?"

Very nice Jamil. GEE..RET ! nice example budy. Ya, that is why companines, while assigning expratraites in foreign nations, held some sessions about the local culture & people. Tourists also get ideas of the cultures (local) before heading to those places. you know all these. oh well. ya, I will be having difficulties to define Nepali verison of Muji in class. What do you say, advice me. If you have to do it, what would be the descent approach u think of ? I need it my Champion. ya, aba aayo sambandha gasne kura, JATIAL chha yo kura. You can dump any questions you want. I will try my level best to answer them. you wondered if MY BAND BAJA rung. I prefer PANCHE BAJA or NAUMATI BAJA over BAND ONE. OK, i would not go as far as providing a precise definition for muji, simply because there is no real benefit to providing a graphic definition. it may put off some people. just say that it's a derogatory term that carries the same level of vulgarity as asshol e or muthafuker (if you can say the last two. if you can't just say that it's a vulgar term). we know that this is not true, as some people lovingly call their friends muji, but there is no point wasting time going into the idiosyncracies. these khaires don't need to know and prolly dont care either.

i guess i prefer the panche baja too. but they are all musicians. since you are a damini, you must know some of them pretty well too, right? just kidding... anyway, your talk can be interesting if you include a lot of examples. i have one more for you: when japanese folks go out to eat at restaurants, at the end of their meals, they signal the waiter for the check by making a T sign with their two hands. in america, making a T sign indicates that you are giving somebody a time out. so you can imagine the pandemonium that would ensue if some japanese tourist came to america and started giving waiters time-out... anyway, you can find some interesting notes on gestures and signs here: - http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/encyclopedia/g/ge/gesture.htm

Bangli Damini I believe many "victim Ketas" do manage to grope around and find their way up. Whereas many women might move forward by swinging on to the next Bhawan wagon that drives by. So survival is a human tendency whether you grope or swing and practicee makes it easier! :P

That is why we are suffering in present. Time will teach us to say "our community", "our betterment", "our land", " our road", "our telephone both", "our ratna park ko relling", so on. Ani, no more tod-fod, hope so. anyway thanks partner. Dear Nuts, Time is the one and only one best teacher for all of us. It teaches us "the life". you liked those words above. Sitara, ya, true, it all depends upon that individual person. "survival' is the technique. Personally I have seen both survivals, KETA & KETI . But, my experience was as I had mentioned above. I have heard, Ladies saying (refferring to their hubbies, bfs) Keta haru ko ni Buddi hunchha ra in normal marriage cases. Chot ra Bedana-ma jeevan barbad garne Keta ko ta ahile kura nagaru, Dherai Katha haru chhan, Biddhu-haruko. oh well. Antama- Jeevan aa-aafno bhogaee ho. -BD
