what is the benefit of keeping both GreenCard and Citizenship of united states of America. Days are coming near for applying citizenship but i dont want to loose my greencard status. Please reply urgently.

@damikattu You have to give away your Greencard , when you become a citizen. You dont need a green Card after you are a US citizen.

You are not getting citizenship unless you give them back your Green Card. Its a trade.

Advantages of being a permanent resident: 1.live and work in the US.
2. Go to Nepal or India without Visa.
Advantages of being a citizen: 1. Vote in elections.
2. Work for the US government. With only GC, you will not be able to get any federal job.
3. Protection provided by US government where ever you go.
4. You may not need Visa for several countries.

I decided to get my citizenship because I wanted to apply for government jobs. For eg, to become a cop, you must be a US citizen. I was thinking not to apply for my citizenship for as long as I could. The choice is yours.
At the oath ceremony, they will take away your GC.
