I agree with ImI, if u guys dont like the flag then dont call urselves Nepali.....why dont u guys just call yourself effin Indian or something....Nothing will ever make people happy...the more they get the more they want...I feel ashamed to see that we have people like that in our country.......I am Proud of my Country, my Flag and everything about Nepal, no matter how bad it is.....so if u dont like Nepal and nepali culture then dont call urself NEPALI......JAI NEPAL!!!

The sun and the moon mean that Nepal will last as long as the two remain in the sky. The flag has been in use in Nepal for centuries, from the time of the Malla dynasty that preceded the Shahs and the Ranas. As an example, see this photo of the Golden Gate in Bhaktapur (1753 AD) which is ornamented with a metal Nepal flag. Such flags are installed at the doorways of many temples in Kathmandu; some have the sun and moon design and some don't.

i think triangular shaped flags are called "dhwaja" and is a part of vedic tradition for symbolism. it has less to do with the shah and rana dynasty and more to do with them being hindus

Meaning of the Flag
The flag of Nepal is the only national flag which is not rectangular, being based upon two separate pennants which belonged to rival branches of the Rana dynasty, which formerly ruled the country. The two pennants were first joined in the last century, but it was not adopted as the official flag until 1962, when a constitutional form of government was established.
The moon in the upper part represents the royal house. The sun in the lower part symbolizes a branch of the Rana family, members of which acted as prime ministers until 1961.

The charges are now said to represent the hope that Nepal itself will last as long as the sun and the moon. The style of these heavenly bodies was streamlined on December 16, 1962. The coat of arms still portrays these charges with facial features. Crimson is deemed the national color

I can't understand Nepali people. They don't like to throw old things if it is necessary. They always supports for old things. Why dont' we make this whole country a Museum? We have to ask old things from other countries and store here in Nepal. Hoina Bhane Je Pani Purano..... bhanera change nagarne ho bhane.... naya ghar kina banaune....tesma purkha ko ragat ra pasina pareko hunchha...... herda pani ramro hunchha............. ????

No no no ...ofcourse not!! its really a bad idea..i don't think that the Flag of Nepal looks ugly or it needs some changes..Its unique and special. Monaliza is not famous because she is beautiful but she has some special and extraordinary appearance(specially her Smile)...Be proud that our flag has its own speciality.....
