Just by contributing your earning equivalent to one hour, you will be able to educate one child back home.If you earn $10 or more per hour and have strong desire to educate one poor child back home, you will be able to do that. Nepal has just about 4000 villages and I believe, we have more than 4000 people in USA and Europe who earns more than $10/hour. Just one hour a month...you do not require to find NGO or anyhting for doing this...Just chose one child from a rural area and take responsibilty to educate him/her.. That's what Nepal needs....neither Prachanda nor Gyanendra...

I don't know if you guys are aware but this is a good idea and Society of Ex-Budhanilkantha Students have a program called "Nationwide Scholarship Program" which has helped hundreds of students from remote parts so far. Should you need more information, do visit the site and or email me and I can be the contact point. visit: http://nsp.sebsonline.org/index.asp And, you don't even need to spare 120 bucks..just 52 bucks a year is enough to educate a child back in Nepal...at least thats what people at NSP say.

bibas,,yes i know about them. I WAS INSPIRED BY THEIR WORK TOO. WELL LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING,,PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OTHERWISE OKAY,,,I WANTED IT TO DO SPECIALLY FOR MY OWN VILLAGE, AND THE SAME SCHOOL WHERE I WAS GROWN,,AND I WANTED TO MONITOR STRICTLY BY MYSELF WHERE MY MONEY IS GOING. FOR PEOPLE, WHO WERE GROWN IN A NICE ENVIRONMENT, BIG CITIES ,,LIKE KATHMANDU, POKHARA, BIRATNAGAR, HETAUDA,,,,IT IS BETTER THEM TO BE ORGANISED AS EX-BUDANILKANTHA GUYS, AND HELP VILLAGE KIDS. BUT PEOPLE LIKE ME,,WHO HAS EXPERIENCED AND SEEN THIER VILLAGE, IT IS GOOD AND VERY EFFECTIVE TO PICK THEIR OWN VILLAGE. ANYWAYS ITS GONNA COVER THE WHOLE NEPAL,,YOU KNOW,,WE HAVE PEOPLE IN ABROAD FROM EVERY VILLAGE OF OUR COUNTRY,,SO,,ULTIMATELY ITS GONNA COVER ALL. ANYWAYS,,WE NEED TO MOTIVATE PEOPLE LIVING ABROAD FOR THIS ACT,,NEED TO TELL THEM,,AND HELP THOSE KIDS IN ANY WAY WE CAN.... ** WE REALLY DONT NEED NEITHER PRACHANDA, NOR GYANENDRA....!

Folks, That's really a genuine effort and awareness of Nanu and Of course Bhusan. I really appreciate their effort and came up with an decent idea. Let's start a link in sajha. How can we do it? Let's talk to the admin and ask him to put the link like "HELP VIRTUAL DOC/ENGINEERS TO BE REAL" and paypal is always there to donate. But to figure out what's going out and in, each kids are assigned to certain individuals. Let's say one poor kid is assigned to me, Marshal67 so I am kinda like his host father, I have a responsibility of funding his expenses, as it's cheap. To clarify, we can even call him if he got that money. So every member interested would be assigned their kids irrespective of their color, age and race. BUT SAN SHOULDN'T BE POSTING ANY ADS OR STUFF TO PROMOTE HIS BUSINESS, IF DID, INCOME SHOULD GO FOR FINDING POOR KIDS OR THIER EXPENSES. SO REMEMBER, WE'RE NOT DONATING FEW DOLLARS, BUT BUILDING MULTI-MILLIONAIRES ENGINIEERS, DOCS OF OUR COUNTRY. LET'S DO IT. MARSHAL67

okay dear goodjob, to be more specific,,i send RS. 1,50,000.00 a year i.e almost $2000 a year. i have opened a bank account bank account with the 'headmaster' of the school so that i can directly monitor my fund, and he is responsible for all the expenses incurred. those student are studying in a nice "english boarding school" and living in the hostel. the amount i send from here is more than enough for their tuition fees, clothing, food, hostel fees, stationary, books, and everything. with the money which is saved every year, we have decided to take those kids for educational tour. you can choose a nice school at nearby citi,,usually we call it "english boarding school" in small cities. you dont really need to choose a very hi-fi school in kathmandu, they are very expensive and they produce lot of 'weed eddict',,you might know this better than me. so,,in a good school of a small town in nepal,,,30,000 per student per year is more than enough,,with that amount, one student can enjoy his life as if he is a son/daughter of a high class family. so,,if you wanna pick only one kid, its only Rs. 30,000 a year, which is $400 a year, cud be yours a week pay checque!!!!and you will be giving huge effort to your own community, society and country. you can choose little less expensive school that offer hostel also and pick more kids, that also work a lot.

Until and unless Nepalese don't quit the mentality of begging, Nepalese won't go ahead anywhere. And what a beautiful name people have given for begging like charity, donations, contributions and people like us feel good about helping others. It make us feel respectable and valuable in our society. If you got some good balance in your account, donating money is not a problem at all. Just write a check to some NGOs. No tensions. No headache. But people like us don't wanna contemplate on the root cause of the exploitations in our society. They don't wanna know what are the root cause of poverty, illetracy and other problems. They don't have time for all of these. They are just happy writing checks. It takes a passion from your soul to tackle these problems. It may take your whole life fighting for the exploited Nepalese with the corrupt political structure of our country. Your help is very superficial. It is just a cure not the prevention. You are the reasons why there are so many NGOs and so called religious figures exploiting social problems. These NGOs are nothing but the byproduct of corrupt political structure of our country who are exploiting the poverty of our country. If poverty is eliminated, then they are out of their business! So they need to sustain their business, they need to advertise poverty and sickness of social problems. We need people who are ready to fight not who are ready to donate. I am not bit interested in so called charity work anymore. Your charity will only grow poverty.

I diagree with you on this Nas. I know that the root of the problem is different and we can't resolve it by donating. However, at this very moment, what else can you do to help them? If you are not supporting the idea of donating for their schooling, you must come up with some kind of plans that could be more effective. Sitting here in US and talking big is not going to educate those poor kids. I totally agree with you on the point that this is only the cure not prevention but when one is already sick, you first think of curing him that go back and start analyzing on what happened in the past, what he shouldn't have done, what could have been prevented etc. When you are sick, you need medicine then later may be (if you get well), go back and do research. I hope you got my point. As I mentioned earlier, I have a friend who has been sponsoring this little poor girl from some remote village since she was on the 4th or 5th grade and now she is sitting on the SLC exams. He plans to keep on sponsoring her until at least her undergrad degree. If we had started this a while ago, we have had other few educated kids produced by now. Well, it is never too late for good thing... lets start an "Education Front" for poor rural kids.

Nas brother, please check out this simple mathematics very carefully: process one : (a+b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab+ b^2 ( you can write directly this if you know the formula right?) Process two: (a+b)^2 = (a+b) X (a+b) = (axa) + (axb) + (bxa) + (bxb) = a^2 + ab + ab + b^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2 BROTHER,,IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE FOLLOWING PROCESS TWO.IF YOU ARE DOING SO, YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME TO GET NOTHING. IF YOU WANT A POOR KID GET EDUCATED,,AND IF YOU HAVE A LITTLE MONEY TO PAY FOR HIM,,JUST DO IT, DONT THINK ABOUT WHAT POLITICIAN ARE DOING, WHAT SINGERS ARE SINGING, WHAT MUSICIAN ARE PLAYING, WHO MR.BUSH IS FIGHTING WITH, WHO IS BEING ASYLUM IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY,THEY ARE NOT GONNA DO STRIKE ON YOUR KID SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME. NOBODY IS GONNA BE AN OBSTACLE ON YOUR WAY, COZ ITS YOURS CHOICE! DO IT BY YOURSELF IF YOU DONT BELIEVE IN CHARITIES, OR ORGANISATION. YOU CANNOT SOLVE EVERYTHING AT ONCE, GO FOR ONE AT A TIME,,THIS IS HOW I THINK, IF YOU PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT THOUGHTS PLEASE SHARE THEM. GOOD LUCK NAS!!!

Bhusan has really done very nice job for Nepali poor kids. I think this thread is originated by nanu. But I don't see he has really started helping for nepalese kids . Nanu, do you earn less than $10/hour like me? or you have not started to be generous! please let us know your contribution , if any.

Thank you nepalover and bhusanb bro for your criticism. I know you both have the best intentions like my mom has. She is currently running www.mitrata.org , a non profit organization which is taking care of orphans and unprivileged children. Her organization is currently taking care of about 50 children. Her friends in US and Europe are supporting her with her mission. I would request you to look through that site. I am her #1 critics and we often debate on this topic. I always tell her that whatever she is doing is out of her selfish interests (and almost all these people are, even Mother Teresa). My view is that if she had really cared about those kids, from the depth of her soul, she would rather tackle the roots and spend all her energy fighting for the rights of those children, which is much more arduous task than collecting donations and feeding those children. Anyway people have different ways of doing things.

So, NAS I think you are of "Anuradha Koirala" type rather than "mother Teressa" type if I am correct.

Nas, Your post shows just about how stupid you are and how self-concerned you are. While I appreciate your personal views, they signify some form of ignorance and or selfishness. You got good education(really???) because there was someone who paid for you. But, these kids are devoid of that opportunity. This thread itself mentioned about education and nothing else. We are not begging money to buy a new PS2 here, MR INTEL. NAS. We are asking for a minimal support so that these innocent kids can get the basic education. Can't you see here that we are not trying to fight poverty here but rather fight ignorance. We aren't making donations to help them buy TVs or other things but helping them get admitted to schools. Come on, if you have some form of rational mind, you should get it. "your help is very superficial" What do you mean by it? Have you ever made donations? Have you ever seen the smile in a child's face when he got the chance to go to a school because of you? Never right? So, you need to learn from these people who are doing something for others. I remember SEBS-NSP program and how they have helped hundreds of kids around the country. At least, these kids passed SLC and had better opportunities. We do what we can..if everyone does it, we should be able to change the society. And, Bhusan, I think you can find someone to coordinate the efforts in your village. In most cases, Budhanilkantha school has students from all the districts and they might be able to manage your fund should you wish to expand it. Let me know if you need any help in this regard. Plus, others too...just visit the site I posted earlier...if you feel it is working..extend your helping hand.

I can see NAS is more of a libertarian(even mother teresa is selfish...). Well, I agree everyone is selfish..but the world cannot sustain if people act like you do MR NAS. In addition, Nas dude, libertarians believe that we can solve the problems by having private donations to help those in need... I, myself, is inclined towards libertarian philosophy and I respect your views but..they just seem like stupid reasonings...

Realis,I would like to thank you for being positive in this effort. It is time to do for the nation. My try was to intiate the people in this venture and I think, people are comming aggresively to this good cause. It is not wise for me to disclose what contribution I have done and how much do I make.My sole purpose is to initiate people .People want to do for nation.Nepalese people are very kind but they do not know how to go agressively on it. I don't want to keep you in more confusion;Yes,I make more than $10 hour and it should help you to understand about my contribution.. Thanks everybody for being so kind and generous...
