There has been a huge hue and cry over voting for Anuradha Koirala. Even Nepali news channels were running scrolling text promotions to encourage people to vote for her solely because she is Nepali. Unfairness seems to be the running trend whenever it comes to voting be it Prashant Tamang or Anuradha Koirala. In the western world, voting is a basic expression of democracy, but alas Nepalis are still centuries away from learning the true meaning of the word. If CNN finds out the extent Nepalis went to get her voted such as advertisement on national nepalese TV, they would without a doubt disqualify her. In no way do I have any disrespect towards Anuradha Koirala and I have the utmost pride and respect for her. It's just the way Nepalis play out unfairly in international contests that I find ethically questionable. Are we Nepalis so destitute and desperate that we have to employ unethical means to put our country's name in the map? No wonder Nepal will always be centuries behind in democracy.

Highest number of votes is the decisive factor in the CNN heroes. CNN allowed to vote as many times. Do you think some advertisement from Nepali channels will have impact against the votes coming everyday from all over the world? With limited computer resources and limited Internet access among Nepalese, i think the world has more contributions in electing her than nepal. Let's c the premier if they could provide number of votes from different countries. I think it's been fair.

After reading your posting I am assuming that you know the answers of the following questions: 1. How many votes she got? 2. How many votes came from inside Nepal? Would you please give some info. Thanks in advance!!

You dont think Indian probably did the same thing for their candidate? One of my former professors from school emailed me the other day to vote for the guy. Can you imagine how many other Indians must have done the same thing? Bytheway... there are billions of Indians out there!

Can be agreed. But dont you think that this award is more than just a award and will give a boost to Anuradha and her maiti nepal to be strong and fight with Indian goons, and corrupt indian policemen, . Her maiti nepal might have to face dire concequences while rescuing girls everyday. She has become a global person. Now those who opposes might have to think twice as she is not just Nepali woman fighting to stop sex trafficking. Hot Demi moore is behind her on the cause.

Ramesworji,
As you made an accusation on Nepalese, I'm also going to accuse you of being a jealous leg-puller.
It seems that you were the one who defined the word 'democracy' with your following statement: No wonder Nepal will always be centuries behind in democracy.
Can you please let me know if the definition of 'unfair' is different for you as well? How on earth is it unethical to campaign and cheer for the candidate I like?
There has been a huge hue and cry over voting for Anuradha Koirala. Even Nepali news channels were running scrolling text promotions to encourage people to vote for her solely because she is Nepali. Unfairness seems to be the running trend whenever it comes to voting be it Prashant Tamang or Anuradha Koirala.
You seem to very naive by pulling Prashant Tamang here. Do you really follow the 'Indian Idol' or you're dragging him here because of your jealousy for him too? Do you think that most of the residents from the village or town of these contestants weren't biased in the favor of their town guy?
You're a laughing stock with your following statement: In the western world, voting is a basic expression of democracy, but alas Nepalis are still centuries away from learning the true meaning of the word. If CNN finds out the extent Nepalis went to get her voted such as advertisement on national nepalese TV, they would without a doubt disqualify her.
Didn't CNN say that a person can vote as many times as I want? Please show me where it is mentioned that cheering and asking for their favorable nominee will lead to disqualify the contestant? You went to very extreme by saying that CNN will disqualify her. I bet that the percentage of votes of indian origin for the indian guy would be more than that of Nepali origin.
Come on brother! Let's celebrate one of the rarest occasions when Nepalese bags the international prize and let's not drag this into controversy. If you still believe it's ethical, I'll be waiting for your response.

A perfect example of negative attitude. This guy Rameswar must be some wife beating goon from KTM who Maiti Nepal chastised (I've heard they do some of that household justice things too).
I am proud of Anuradha. I know lots of us voted, but so did lots of people from other countries.
Also, the incidence of Prashanta Tamang and Anuradha Koirala shows that we are not really a small country. We are a big country, with 30+ million people, and when we are united, we can hold on our own in a lot of things.

NEPALI HARU BHEDA HO. Why nepalese didn't celebrated when she was nominated top 10. We should have celebrated when Anuradha was selected in top 10 out of 1000s of nominees. That was a real victory . I salute her for that. I still believe that was her real victory. Now celebrating an online voting where somebody gave 50, some 100 votes means absolutely nothing. Get real guys. We nepali have enough time to vote 20-30 votes. Ever since she was nominated in top ten there was little doubt that she would win. We nepalese have made ritu haru ma timi i think 6 th famous song in the world in online voting in BBC. But does that mean anything?

Anuradha deserves this recognition for all she did to empower the hapless women. Let this be a lesson that Nepalese people stand united when it comes to promoting our hero to world stage and let it be a lesson for all Nepalese that if we can make our hero win in world stage, we have the power to unite against all odds (Maoist, Congress, Communist, and whatever) and make Nepal a better place.

Are all of you guys stupid or illiterate? In no way have I disrespected Anuradha Koirala's achievements. She deserves a lot of respect for what she is doing. I am only saying that the whole voting process is a shame. Like no quero said, I am proud that she came on top 10.

WOW, hey SMART ARSE rameswor cha, if there was a limit on one person per vote, than CNN would have definitely impose it so, that means every appointee had the same opportunity . NOW comes to the advertisement by media, why is it not fair? dont political leaders all over the world advertise through media, rallies and campaign? Why is asking for vote BAD? Rameswor it seems to me that you completely mixed up between a person who saves young girls and women from a life of hell to just the VOTING PROCESS, just imagine for one second oy you being a young confused girl wisked away form home in a stange hell, beaten and being forced to have sex with multiple men at the age of 8. can you Rescue one bro? she has rescued thousands. so SHUT UP

OK bro, if you say the whole voting process is a shame, why don't u file a complaint in an international court to nullify the award and sue the CNN for shameful voting!!!!
Where were you when the CNN announced the voting system?? Why didn't you oppose at that time?? Now coz Anuradha won and you are saying the voting system a shame!!!
By the way if any other person (except Anuradha) had won the the award, would you have made similar comment on voting system?? I bet, you would have said the voting system was good.
