Although I'm not in MN ( I'm in the midwest though) I can tell that MN is the most ideal state for Nepalese students if not the best. The in-state tuition is the main reason why Minnesota is such a favorable place to be. On top of that, the high on campus jobs ( some make as high as 12/14 dollars/hr ) and loans provided by college ( St. Cloud does that I've heard ) help tremendously as well. Minnesota is also one of the most developed/richest states in the U.S. The only drawback.........snow.....it snows all the time...... ( except for the summer... or 4-5 months ) but who cares about snow as long as you can comfortably fund your college fees on your own and attain your goal of living a typical "american independent life." Also, I know that the U.S. being the largest economy of the world attracts a large number of Nepalese and hence the reasons of wanting to come here vary. Every individual is different and hence the economic conditions of an individual is totally different when compared to another individual. Therefore, to think that the students opting to go to Texas to earn money is nothing but sheer ignorance. Also, the Nepalese living there don't work/bust their arses to make a lot of money excepting some Nepalese who might have such intention. Texas is probably the top 3 well developed/richest state in the U.S. and living costs are massive and hence an ordinary Nepalese can't afford not to work a lot of hrs... I might be wrong..but that's my opinion.

MustaineKoFan, I think you are wrong man. People in MN are not all rednecks. Anyways, I used to be in MN and I believe it's a good state to go to school in and also to reside in after graduation. So Sakuni bro, if you are planning to go to school in MN, that would be a good choice, just choose a good school.

I don't think that is true CAKEWALK. One thing I have noticed in MN universities is that they are always willing to take International Students, as increasing diversity in their campuses has been one of their priorities.

mustaine ko fan not everyone in MN are rednecks ... i used to go to college there and for 5 years i have lived among minnesotans. they are quite helpful though most of the people are unaware of the rest of the world. Redneck is too extreme to describe them. though i do not think minnesota is the 3rd richest state in US it is still one of the best places for students.

MN is the best place to study as per tuition. It is relatively cheaper than other state and you can probably finish as early as 4 years. About rednecks......I am not sure, Minnesotans are pretty nice people compare to other midwest people then again it totally depends on you. If you are friendly they are friendly and if you make them take their redneck attitudes out then you can do that too. But after all the things said and done MN is great place to study.

MustaineKoFAN , You can not compare Texas over MN...Minnesota is way better than Texas...Texas is full of Blacks and MExicans whereas in Minnesota, you can hardly see any black people...and yeah it is one of the Richest State in the United States...I m not sure about 3rd richest but it is among Top 10...Its a home to Mall of America, biggest mall in United States and Twin cities(Minneapolis and St.paul)....and the starting Payrate is higher than any other state..On-campus jobs pay minimum of $8 an hour but i make $18 an hour....And you don't have to work in Gas station for 18 hours a day...If you work 20 hours/week, that will be more than enough for you while studying and that's what nepalese people want. I've seen many people coming from Dallas, Huouston neither they could do better in their studies nor they could save the money in TEXAS.. So if anybody is planning to go to MN, that's best.

Minnesota is not probably the best state to study...unless it is University of Minnesota because if you really think of studying, always choose the best college...if not, you can go to Minnesota or Texas and work wherever you want...
