Just thought this message deserves another thread, just so that it doesn't get lost in the sea of threads. I hope something works out for her. And best wishes for her fight against cancer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Medical Emergency!!!! Help needed. I got a call from an American family who lives in Idaho that a Nepali girl (19 year old freshman in Moscow, Idaho) has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor. This family lived in Nepal for years and are close to the Nepali students there. The girl's family knows that their daughter has cancer, but doesn't know that within the last few days, she has been taken to Seattle for checkup, and a cure is very possible. She will be in the hospital going through cemo and surgery, with insurance covering her medical expenses, for a total of six months. Everyone she knows has been trying to find a person with a satellite phone to call her home. They need to fly her mom to Seattle from Nepal ASAP to take care of her following surgery. I tried calling people I knew with no luck finding someone who has access to a satellite phone. I am worried about the safety of my family in Nepal, but will wait out until the phone lines open up. However, this girl cannot. This is an emergency. Please please reply to this thread if you know anyone in Nepal with a satellite phone, and we will arrange details on getting her to call home. I apologize for posting this on multiple threads. Thanks in advance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SORRY TO HEAR THE STORY, and you freaking people make me sick, you talk about like a Tsunami has hit nepal then you had to worry about your family, your families are enjoying the peace right now. """"""""""""""""I tried calling people I knew with no luck finding someone who has access to a satellite phone. I am worried about the safety of my family in Nepal, but will wait out until the phone lines open up. However, this girl cannot."""""""""" besides why are you worried about your family in nepal? as if you called them everyday..... King has taken back the kingdom not the Maoist, so why the hell are you worried....???? """""""she has been taken to Seattle for checkup, and a cure is very possible. She will be in the hospital going through cemo and surgery, with insurance covering her medical expenses, for a total of six months""""""""" why do they need her mom to come to usa? is she a doctor? and who is this girl who is sick? does she need money ? do we have to raise money here for her cure, we can do that... but bringing her mom here, noway, you think that kurey is going to give her visa right away, and she can catch her own jetplane to come to USA.

Broda, y don't u try to get hold of Nepalese Embassy or some journalists. Most probably they are the one who can have satellite phone. Or even if not, may be they can find out, some way to get the message to her parents. (truly it looks impossible at this moment). God bless her

Indeed, I hadn't seen the first thread. But w/o being utterly insensitive, I don't think the priority is to get her mother here. I am positive that there are few Nepali students in Moscow, Idaho (U of Idaho)...why don't we plan on having a student network overthere to periodically checking on the girl after she goes through the surgery. Chemo could be a real weakening experience, hence she needs a prolonged care; which her parents can bestow. The latter part can be arranged once the initial part (setting up a help network with the resources-fellow nepali students) is taken care of. Hope she gets well soon and let all Sajhaites know if further help is warranted.

DWI, I had a good friend going through Chemo, he needed all the family support he could get. So difficult was it for him to function, emotionally, mentally and physically. If I were in such a situation, I would like for my mother to be with me. I don't think that would be unreasonable.

Common Gorkhali bro, At times like these, even a small help means A LOT to the victim. I am a man( which Sitara might dispute :p) enough to take care of myself, have always been; by virtue of living away from home since i was 4-5 but even now, when i am really sick, i wish my mom was with me. It helps you know. No matter how much we grow up and be strong or if i may, Manly, or (Womanly for that matter) , it helps to have some to take care of you at times like these. And come to think of it, the poor girl has much more than a minor fever to worry about. But yes, I understand why u said about the posters being worried about her family. But please, lets' leave the politics of thoughts/beliefs outta this different human need. But you showed you've heart by raising the isue of money and your willingness. Perhaps, NepinMinnie should know if it's dire, we can help. Aru ta tyastai ho.. arko DC party kahile ho? LOL. Yeah true Sitara, but i was thinking, there are people who are GETTING e-mails or even calls in some cases to be posted/inform by our DISTINGUISED journalists from NEPAL, thus am assuming they are in constant touch. Can they not pass on this message to their sources and they in turn, to her parents? Among all thse information overload, i guess this is one information, if they could deliver, would ACTUALLY make a diff. Just a thought. IndisGuise:)

Gorkhali, Why are you so bitter about everything in this world? Why are you angry with everyone? Is your mental faculty working well? I suggest you to take a break from Sajha for a couple of days, and come back again after you regain your sanity.

Sitara I understand. And hence I said the prolonged part of the care can only be given by her parents. But Getting her parents here immediately, won't make the situation better..rather it might make it tense for her parents too. They already are in dire straits over there in KTM right now. I am not saying they should be in oblivion about this. They ouhgt to know it, but the priority should be to utilize what we have available. Something like paramedic working on a patient before doctor arrives.

DWI: I believe that you need a family member's authorization to begin chemo or any operation of such gravity. The risks involved have to be acknowledged by an authorized guardian in writing. Besides, there is the issue of insurance, liabilities and hospitalizations. You are not talking about a tooth extraction here.

Gorkhali-X, Is pickle (pickled cucumber) stuck up your arse? Sometimes you just have to learn to shut your mouth and not show what it is full of. Are you really this stupid or this Friday making you howl? Now I'm sure you have that kaagati nichoreko anuhar. Chemo therapy could be debilitating and very draining - physically and emotionally. Such person is not alway kept in the hospital - you dumbo. If she wants to talk to her family or wants to be with her mom, why the bugs crawl in your brain? Don't you have a mother or a family? You think everybody in Nepal is ok? Then why all the communications are shut down, people are either in house arrest or in prison, and a number of people are in jail for no perticular reason. You can't even think, pinhead. Go ahead, do your part in sucking up the a** of Gyane and his leutenants. Now, go and wash your mouth with soap water.
