KATHMANDU, Sept 30 - A Nepali woman on Friday succeeded in entering her name in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Pratistha Amatya Bista,29, got her name entered in the Guinness Book of World Records after she succeeded in recollecting the names of 75 objects within six seconds, according to the state-owned Nepal Television.

The previous record was held by a British national for recollecting 55 objects.

Amatya has completed her bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Rampur Agricultral Campus, Chitwan. (hb)

How can one recollect 75 objects within 6 seconds? That's bullshit. Only computers can do that. Maybe 6 minutes would make more sense.

Yeah same from me, but six secs-75 objects (no doubt it is in the Guniess records), she was a smart lady, I had belief that she would make it big..but Guniess book....never thought about that. As an elder brother like to her, I am proud of her achievements.

i think they mean without pausing more than 6 secs, so like you have to name the words right away and not pause an hour to remember the next object

Or can it be like this: they put 75 objects in front of you and give you only six seconds to look at them and memorize.

Yeah, the problem with our journalism is that they don't report the main important thing.

Inded it's a great news for all Nepalese poeple to have someone to be entered in Guiness record book. But our poor journalism failed to elaborate this news... they didn't give details on what type of record, what was the feat of this challenge.. and how the objects were produced/presented in front of her, and under what sets of rule she has to recall thos eobjects.... Just they said her name was entered for remember 75 objects in 6 secs.. that's impossible. In one second she has to write? pronounce? at least 12 objects. Dude even if a human being counts 1,2,3..... 11, 12, 1 second is not enough!! Even if he/she counts those 12 numbers probably no one will understand it!!!!!!!

Therefore, friends, please post here what exactly are the rules of that feat/challenge. Let's make the news complete!!!

I am more leaning towards Gautam B.'s guessing... yeah it could be that only 6 secs were given to memorize 75 random objects...

Then later she recollects all those objects in specified time duration... but what could be that duration???

I re-read the news item again, and unless I missed something, I now find it (blame my weak memory!) rather odd that:

- state-owned Nepal TV made the grand declaration about this achievement, and
- there is NO record of this feat on - http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/
as of now.

Perhaps NTV is a better authority on matters of this kind than The Guinness folks!

The "previous" British guy -- according to the Guinness site -- did this:

which means that you have to say (or write) to someone what objects you recall.

Now how the fuk can someone say 75 words in 6 seconds ???.

Some other people have put forth sensible arguments and I kinda agree with them.

apparently this is how it works:

you are told 100 words.
you must then recite as much of those 100 words as possible.
however the trick is that you cannot pause for more than 6 seconds, this is because a person can take forever and then finaly come up with the list!

Child prodigy indeed

Sagun Khatri successfully memorised the names of 100 objects in a random manner in the presence of a plethora of observers and is now vying for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. By doing so, he bettered Pratistha Amatya Bista?s existing domestic record, who had memorised 75 items, which in turn, was better than the existing record of 56 in the Guinness Records. Hats off to this young man that he could achieve so much at such a tender age. He was rightly feted as the Child of the Year and will receive the Veer Ganeshman Singh Bal Prativa Puraskar. Such emerging talents need to be supported by the State, including forwarding the papers necessary to enlist him in the Guinness. Three cheers to you, Sagun! Do keep up the good work.
