I was just wondering how many people have gotten their h1 but no job as of yet. the market looks pretty bad and it seems like it will be hard to get a job sometimes soon. No one can spend their entire life on bench!

So, the back up would be to apply for canadian residency. I am on the process of doing it. I have gathered almost all of the documents now. I am sure there are lot of people who want to do it.

I am starting this thread to talk to people who have started their process or are thinking about it in hopes that if we all talk to eachother and talk about the process, may be we could do it ourselves and save the lawyers fee. I have done a lot of research on this and I have found a lot of information. But it took me weeks to find these things. If someone could tell me these things, I would know it all in about 30 mins.

If someone is doing the processing, please drop a line or two to give us some knowledge about the process and different steps within the process. Lets save everyone some time and effort and money (no lawyer=save money).

thanks!

Do you have to live at Alberta for certain amount of time if you apply through AINP?  Like can move to Toronto once get your PR trough AINP?  Many job listed on this program does not match with my experience as well.

Hi friends,

If they found , it is fraud forget  about immigration non of your family memberwill  even get visiting visa.  If you have 1 year experience of work which fall under NOC, arrange employment can be made. It will cost from US$ 12000 to 16000 depending on job. This  will increase your point by 15. 10 point  for arrange employment and 5 point in adaptbility. That should easily make your point 67.  Your immigration will be completed in less than one year. Hopefully this will help.

Good luck.

Thank you for the wonderful 'INPUTS' from all.

My case was regular federal and I send my complete docs in the 1st week of September. Its been 2 months + now and I have not received my receipt number yet. I mailed them saying the same and they said it might take 30 weeks (i.e 7-8 mtnhs) just to receive receipt for confirmation. It is very awful and fraustrating. I was also wondering if they are taking more time means they accept the application and its in processing....just trying to be positive? Or else, if rejected then they should have done it right away...correct? (just guessing)

Is anyone having a same issue? Can anyone please share their experience in the process or time taken to receive the receipt number.

Thank you

saguaro,

that is exactly what i was talking about...if you apply now or applied anytime after feb 27, 2008, they will hold your application until they will come out with a list of 38 occupation that they will process the PR based on...that means, if your job experience is in the list of 38 occupation, you will be selected...if not, they will send it back to you with a suggestion to apply through provincial nominee program...that is why its not wise to apply right now, until the list comes out. I do not want to apply and then have them send me my application back saying my experience does not fall in the list of 38 occupations...so, that is the list I am waiting for...the benefit of waiting is if my actual experience does not exactly fit, i can always tweak my resume a bit...and then make it fall in the list of 38 occupation and then apply...so, anyone who looks into this thread and is interested, please keep an eye on cic.gc.ca and see if the list comes out...as soon as it does, please post it here...i will keep an eye myself too...

i think someone can do that...but the thing is both application will go thru federal...provincial nominee means province will nominate, but still it will come to federal and the federal will expedite the case...so, if you are applying thru provincial, i do not see any reason why one would want to apply thru federal as well...

for photo, you will need to go to regular shops...not in cvs...i went to walmart...where there was this nail saloon and a chinese guy with a camera who did the picture for me...also, i think studios in mall will probably be able to do it...

last option, take a picture here (digital), edit it, send it to nepal..take it to photo concern on a cd or flash drive, have them printed...post it back to you on mail...but this is a long process...

i would go to Mall...best option...

Hi

My profession let me apply for canadian PR under the federal program but my problem is I do not have a experience of 1 year. I am currently legitimately working in my profession but again i still have 6 more months to work to gain that exeperience. Before that happens, My OPT will be expired and i will not be able to complete 1 year of experience. I have pay stubs and all the necessary documents. I believe, I will not have any problems in getting 67 points. What do you guys suggest me to do? Basically, I am wondering how  these canadians  will find out regarding my job experience? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciable.

Thanks

hi,

I applied to AINP-H1B stream today in the Industrial/Manufacturing Category. I have a master's in manufacturing and work with a worlds leading heavy equipment manufacturing company since last april on H1B visa. for 10 months till date and prior to that i worked in another comapny in iowa for 6 months as a manufatcuring engineer on my OPT.

I have provided them proof of previous offer letter, current h1b approval, reference letter from previous company, business cards at previous and present company, recent paystub..etc

Can anyone let me know, if i am eligible at all for the AINP-H1B category as i have 10 months on H1B and 6 months on OPT in the same field of manufacturing (Total of 16 months). I also have exceptional GPA in my grad school, very decent resume with projects in the core of manufacturing.

Just wondering if they would consider my application at all? I have applied in desperateness but i felt like i had a chance. It would great if somebody can throw some light or share similar experience related or close to mine?

I would be grateful, if somebody can provide me some information.

Hi Subrath,

I applied to AINP-H1B stream on December 5th 2008. Then I got the following recieved e-mail. I am waiting for the nomination letter. It says it takes  up to 4 months. Howlong did it take to get your nomination letter??

Thank you .

Dear ......

This email is a confirmation that we have received your documents for pre-assessment. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) Office will assess your application.

Provided you receive a positive pre-assessment, the AINP Office will send you an application package, and an invitation letter to apply for the AINP. Normally, AINP pre-assessments and invitations to apply can take up to 4 months to process.

Kindly do not call or email us to check on the status of your application, as this will increase our processing times of applications. Furthermore, we do not provide status updates during normal processing times.

Once you have completed all the necessary AINP/CIC forms, you will send your application package back to the AINP Office, whereby they will process your AINP application. Completed AINP applications can take up to 4 months to process before a positive nomination certificate is issued.

Once you have received a positive nomination and AINP certificate, the AINP Office will instruct you on how to proceed for the second phase of the process for permanent residence, which is processed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). The second phase of the process with CIC can take 6 - 12 months.

This is a different and separate process from the regular Federal Skilled Worker Permanent residence program through the Canadian Federal Government (Citizenship and Immigration Canada CIC). The AINP is a faster, more streamlined process with different and less stringent requirements than the CIC process).

There are no fees for the provincial portion of the permanent residence application, although once you apply for permanent residence with Citizenship and Immigration Canada, then you will have to play those applicable application fees.

Please visit the following Citizenship and Immigration Canada website for more information on the immigration process once you have received a positive AINP nomination http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/index.asp

If you should require additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Foreign Worker Hotline at 1-780-427-6419 or Toll free from within Alberta 1-877-427-6419 or email us at immigration.info@gov.ab.ca .

Thank you for your interest in moving to Alberta

There may be other options and you may still be able to stay in the US.

Does my relevant experience in Nepal works? Also, my TOEFL valid date has expired. Is there any way I could ask to waive or mange not to take any test but still get full scores under English language skill? I heard some required documents have changed recently. I am also in need of list of all those docs!!

If anyone has format of a letter for waiving the test that would be awesome!

I would appreciate answers from any source. Please, leave your experience. Thanks. ;-)

Cheers'

Yes, it will count, as long as you had that work experience in within last 10 years, which I am sure it is. Also, I am not sure if they take TOEFL as a proof of english, I believe its IELTS. They have recently changed the list of occupation (38 occupation) for Federal processing. Make sure you fall in that list, otherwise its not going to be approved. If you do not fall in that list, then it will be a good idea to apply through provincal program. Alberta has a good scheme if you are working in US for 1 year in H1b. I have been working for almost 5 months now. After 7 more months, I am applying for Alberta. Nothing is sure here in the States...got to have a good backup!

If anyone has any more information, please drop it here.
